History of The Cheese Larder

From our origins as deli – retailers in Kendal, founder Barry Carr has been a specialist cheese supplier since 1990.

In response to an increasing demand for quality cheeses by local hotels and restaurants the decision was made in 2005 to dispose of our retail entities and concentrate on wholesale supplies. Based on excellent customer service, quality products and extensive knowledge, the business quickly grew, and in 2010 culminated in a move to larger premises at Lakeland Food Park, just north of Kendal Town centre. At the same time we joined forces with our now sister company Lakes Speciality Foods enabling us to service a much greater geographical area.

With shared marketing and logistics we are now able to offer our extensive range of both specialist and recipe cheeses as well as ancillary deli items, to areas as far south as Liverpool and Manchester and of course the whole of Cumbria.

Beyond delivery we offer our chef clients advice with their cheeseboard choices and menu descriptions aimed to maximise restaurant sales. For venues tapped into the lucrative wedding market we offer Cheese Wedding Tiers, increasingly popular for both weddings and party occasions. Offering either advice with cheese choices for in-house use or a bespoke assembly and decoration service arranged direct with your brides. Either way we can assist you in putting together wonderful centre pieces for your special occasion clients.
